The Municipality of Monforte has resolved to publicly honor Teacher José Duarte da Conceição by naming the Family Support Activities Center after him, where, in addition to other services, the Family Animation and Support Activities (AAAF) and the Family Support Component (CAF), directed respectively at preschool and 1st Cycle children, and a Study Center are developed. This location holds strong symbolic value as it is the building of the former Primary School where the teacher taught and left his mark on successive generations of people from Monforte. The infrastructure was consequently named "Centro de Estudos e ATL – Professor José Duarte da Conceição", a decision by the local authority aimed at perpetuating the memory of one of the most prominent and cherished figures in the local community.
The official ceremony took place on August 15, during the traditional August festivities of the parish of Monforte, the 2026 Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Childbirth, historically linked to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Monforte, an institution deeply supported and cherished by the honoree's family.
In addition to the Mayor, Miguel Rasquinho, accompanied by members of his Cabinet, Sara Rasquinho, Sérgio Martins, and Joaquina Ramalho, attendees included the honoree's widow, Rosa Duarte, his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, other family members and friends, the Provedor of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia, José António Rasquinho, the President of the Municipal Assembly, Joaquim Gabriel Martins, Municipal Executive Council Member Fernando Saião, the Presidents of the Parish Councils of Assumar and Vaiamonte, Joaquim António Martins and Fernando Calçoa respectively, representatives of local organizations, and the general public.
José Duarte's career was marked by a high sense of mission, especially during the Estado Novo period, a time when the role of teachers was central to civic and human education. In addition to teaching in official education—having served as director of a school in Portalegre—the teacher and his wife also provided tutoring at their own home to numerous young people in the municipality.
Beyond his dedication to education, José Duarte had an exemplary active participation in the public and community life of Monforte, serving as a Municipal Council Member of Monforte and maintaining, together with his family, a close and continuous support connection with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Monforte.
The initiative thus aimed to recognize his contribution to the educational and social development of the municipality, perpetuating his name in a space entirely dedicated to childhood and the training of young people from Monforte.
